Round-up of News

Feeling very buoyant this sunny spring Friday!

A quick reminder that this weekend is the Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair at Canterbury Racecourse - I'll be heading out there tonight (Friday) and it runs until Sunday.

It has been a very busy year for me - my first book (a maritime history biography) was published in February, and I've been involved in a lot of Titanic anniversary events, lecturing and talking to the media on both the disaster itself and the fashion of the era. Hopefully things will settle a bit now - not that I've been neglecting my vintage clothing collecting at all.

I will, of course, be going to the Napier Art Deco Weekend next February, and will be speaking this time on 1920s eveningwear.

Looking forward to catching up with you all!

The Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair and a good time had by all

I've been distracted by so much else going on that I hadn't had a chance to give much thought to the Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair beyond a vague plan to attend with Sandra and Jill. Then I had a note from Nicole (Circa Vintage) saying she was coming for the Friday opening and suggesting lunch with myself and Clare, another vintage-loving friend and work colleague who has been working on sourcing swimsuits for one of our upcoming exhibitions. That, along with a message from SuperKawaiiMama that she was on the way as well for Friday/Saturday, set the wheels turning. I do love to get out there on Friday for the first round.
