Meet Zelda

Some of you might remember Zoe Dee, my Boudoir Doll mascot. She's that gorgeous French silk face in the Chinese pajamas.

Now she has a cohort - an Anita Smoker named Zelda.

One of my flatmates declared her an evil opium smoker on sight, and has told me that if he *ever* finds her walking around the house, he'll destroy her. Frankly, I think that if she ever goes for a stroll, it will probably be to hit the Bombay Sapphire gin in the cocktail cabinet:

What I love about these dolls is the character you see in them - the idiosyncratic attire, the sheer attitude (I think Zelda is French, but Jill sees her as a Fast Talking New Yawker):

Napier Art Deco Weekend Thursday Evening - twirling and lounging

Back to the County, and we had time to change for dinner. We hadn't booked in for a dinner event this year, so we thought we'd just dine fairly "casually" at The Med, the new restaurant and bar that has replaced the Aqua Bar at the Masonic Hotel. It commands a good view of the promenade, and is a great people watching spot.

Then back to the hotel for a change into the traditional lounge wear worn at the Hawkes Bay Cocktail Cascade, and to pick up our boudoir doll mascot Zoe Dee. The Hawkes Bay Club is almost across the road from the County, which is excellent - it's a short hop-skip-jump, and handy for to-ing and fro-ing:

Zoe Dee

I am so thrilled - my boudoir doll has arrived! I fell in love with her as soon as I saw photos of her, and when she came on sale a couple of weeks ago I jumped at the chance to buy her. She's from a lovely seller: Guilty Pleasures - this is one of her photos. She's even more gorgeous, more insouciant, more soignee in person, with her kimono top and pajama pants. Sebastian can have his Aloyisius - I've got my Zoe Dee (named for my great aunt and my darling Nana):

She's coming Napier as one of the girls next year - I just need to get matching lounging PJs...
